L'écriture en miroir quand elle se manifeste dans les débuts de l'écriture n'est à considérer que comme une étape dans la maturation de l'enfant, un moment dans la mise en place des structures spatiales, contemporaines des premières acquisitions. Il semble que l'écriture en miroir parfaitement réussie soit plus souvent le fait des gauchers. Elle n'offre aucun caractère inquiétant. En général l'enfant est capable de se corriger facilement et peut renverser totalement l'orientation sans difficulté pour peu qu'on lui procure un repère.
